I’m channelling all my objectivity to make this as unbiased as possible, but I’m only human. Some of this is subjective, based on my fee-fees, my memories, some of this you can already find on this handy Wikipedia page.

Additional notes:

  • The second time green resurfaces in media is the broader Jobbik universe, the radical right.

  • Owning the state media is always a capital letter for the ruling coalition, except for the very first MDF government.

  • I’m being very generous with right wing soft power: before the Fidesz Hegemony era, you could count openly right wing people in pop culture on one hand. After 12 years, you need two hands. It’s a shift, but hardly an avalanche. Yet, most of Hungarian culture runs on dole, so state power is there, whether it’s exercised or not, which deserves at least a capital R for the ruling party.
