Mass Immigration is not rational
Even when it was, it was too fragile to survive debate. An Eastern European perspective.
Why are Hungarians so opposed to mass immigration and multiculturalism? — the question came up in the shocking — ordinary, really — slaughter of a 14 year old German girl by an Eritrean asylum seeker. It happened Germany; she wasn’t on holiday in a conflict zone, she was just walking in her hometown, to school.
This will be a short, observational post.
Think of Mass Immigration 1.0 as the “who will clean our toilets / pay our pensions” scheme. Think of Western Europe: German construction sites, the service sector in London. When it was backed up by the pragmatic goal of getting cheap labor, for now, for the future, to eternity.
The cost of the process itself and its chance for success (and any possible bad outcomes) was too hot to debate even then. The costs didn’t matter, success was assumed guaranteed. A very bold project with no plan B for a rollback, but at least the anticipated outcome was sold to the masses as beneficial.
On December 16th, 1998, Comedy Central aired the South Park episode "Gnomes."
In the episode, the characters report that they are missing underpants and discover a society of tiny, magical gnomes who are stealing their undergarments for a supposed profit. When asked about their plan, the gnomes describe their method as, "Step 1: Collect underpants. Step 2: ? Step 3: Profit."
The lack of step two indicates that they do not have an actual plan for monetizing their underpants collection.

Mass Immigration 1.0 was advertised to the people as an Underpants Gnome scheme:
Open Borders for Europe
???
Profit!
Mass Immigration 2.0
Due to an increase in overall decadence, where rationality has not only no need, it actually poops on the party, and due to the increase in Liberal hegemony, which puts any debate on the topic outside the Overton Window, the scheme, as it is today, is presented as such:
Open Borders for Europe
???
???
Since in Eastern Europe, in Hungary neither conditions (Neoweimarian decadence, Liberal hegemony) is present, people look at the scheme above and see no reason to buy in.
We get that you’re selling, we usually do understand your marketing, and more often than not it works, we do end up buying your stuff, especially when it’s great. Not this time though.
To us, this seems way more irrational than any tenet of Scientology, and Scientologists — credit’s due — try really hard to convince you to buy in. They used to man street stands with e-meters in the rain. Fuckers had determination. (I went with a religious zealotry analogy for a reason here.)
The West is yet to present us a good argument for accepting mass immigration, all they do is coercion, sticks upon sticks, punishment until we submit to the cause. Not very nice. They might remind us to be thankful that millions of our expats can clean their toilets. Also not particularly endearing, although, it is possible that Germans are wired so differently that they do view such remarks as a genuine compliment.
(Note that even if Eastern Europeans accept that they’re nothing but bottom-tier servants for Western Europe, they should still resist Mass Immigration 1.0 as it inundates the very labor market they’re destined to occupy, so the only pragmatic Western argument meant to sell us Open Borders ends up contradicting itself.)
In Eastern Europe, Open Borders and multikulti is Colonial Maverick and adjacent wannabe-elite food, and a low calorie one at that. Those of us who might Tweet at the West in broken English, in support of Mass Immigration and the rest of the ideological package, the ones who take well-documented trips to daze the few remaining at home who still can’t afford / be bothered to board a budget airliner to take a trip to Barcelona or wherever, even those prefer to fly back home to Orbanistan at the end of their weekend.
Reason? Being against Mass Immigration is not nice
Show me nice by giving me a Western wage, and all the dole you owe us, Westerner! Part with that sweet hard currency! View it as reparations for taking advantage of us at our weakest point. That wasn’t nice, was it?
Then we can do a benevolence dick measuring contest, as equals. But no sooner.
Once we get as decadent as you, through the beer glasses of Western prosperity we might be able find some reason behind those question marks, just like you seem to do, but no sooner.
No sooner.
Reason? It’s faith.
Someone nailed multikulti on a church door up north, and the population, thanks to the zeitgeist (post-WWII Western angst), was receptive. There’s no reason behind it, it’s just faith.
It promises something nice, if it works out. If it doesn’t, some sacrifices will have to be endured, but that’s how it is with faith. It might be and endless sacrifice from now on, but that’s no biggie to a believer, it’s somewhat welcome, if you think about it (don’t overdo it though).
No need to be pragmatic, Eastern Europeans, just believe in our faith and prepare to sacrifice everything for it. Simple, ja?
Religious conversion is a mighty big thing to ask, expecting us to adopt your new protestantism, doing it so insensitively. To you, this faith might be evidently superior, but try to force it on others, so bluntly (per usual), and you might meet violence.
Wouldn’t be the first time.
The Germans don’t like themselves, and they want the rest of Europe to adopt their moral framework
That’s it? Okay, then I also don’t like Germans. Done. ✅
Update: The breakdown of this post is available as a Twitter thread.
I also did this to Spice Girl Control, and plan on doing it for large posts, retroactively. It’s good practice, helps adhering to a structure in online prose. If the chain of thought featured in a post can’t be turned into a single, clear Elonreich thread that has a beginning and an end, the outliers preventing it should be turned into their own posts or ditched altogether.
I won’t be making TicTac summaries with spazzy jump cuts any time soon (I didn’t say never).
